In late 2018, Steve Bannon, previously a top aide to Donald Trump, was in the UK preparing for a address at the Oxford Union.
The event was interrupted by hundreds of demonstrators, and Bannon, who was due to travel that evening, informed Jeffrey Epstein in an email: "Protesters delayed speech don't think I can make the flight we are heading to the airport".
Epstein responded: "There. Is a gulf air departing at 950 with a stop in Bahrain". Bannon answered: "U r an amazing helper".
These messages were released on this week together with more than 20,000 pages from the estate of Epstein, the late financier convicted of sex crimes.
The release by the Congressional committee includes an iMessage chat where Bannon's identity is withheld. Media outlets has been able to establish his involvement by matching the timeline, events, and places mentioned.
For instance, Epstein discusses chartering a jet from the UK for the unnamed individual in the chat, and commends their "address at Oxford". Bannon participated in the Edinburgh conference on 14 November, and delivered the speech at the Oxford two days later.
Bannon, who is not accused of any wrongdoing, did not reply on the inquiry.
Bannon served as the president's key advisers in the lead-up to the presidential election and in the early days of his presidency, but resigned from the administration in August 2017.
He has acknowledged he was making a documentary about Epstein prior to his passing and reportedly has around 15 hours of recordings. In a recording of his podcast recently, he stated: "We're going to release the film, the multi-part documentary, next year - at the start of next year."
But the recently disclosed documents indicate Bannon's connection with Epstein extended than being his biographer, with the convicted paedophile at times appearing to serve like a personal assistant.
A short time before the conversation in which Epstein appeared to have arranged a charter jet for Bannon, Epstein said: "how does it feel to have the most highly paid booking agent in the world ".
Bannon expressed gratitude: "U r pretty good assistant", to which Epstein replied "Therapies. Not Included".
Discussing a visit to "Abu Dhabi" in another message, Epstein assured Bannon: "I will ensure you are taken care of."
The released messages also reveal Bannon and Epstein discussing UK politics in that year.
Earlier on the same day his speech at the Oxford, Bannon messaged Epstein: "I've gotten pulled into the Brexit thing this day with Farage, Johnson and Mogg."
Then, in what appears to be a reference to the UK prime minister, the struggling UK prime minister at the time, he added: "They are trying to proceed. may soon…"
Epstein suggested Bannon: "I think staying as long as you can in the UK. Best-- so others get the dedication of your follow through."
Shortly after, Epstein asked: "Will Theresa may remain in power". Bannon answered: "It seems unlikely however the guys here have no balls" and added "Johnson ; Gove; Jacob Rees-Mogg; Davis - somebody has to take charge".
May was eventually removed in 2019 after withstanding multiple attempts of lack of support in late 2018.
A spokesman for the political party informed media: "Farage has never been in a meeting with Steve Bannon, Rees-Mogg and Boris Johnson." And there is nothing to suggest that encounter occurred.
The Congress will vote soon on whether the Department of Justice should make public all its records concerning its investigation into Epstein, who died in prison in 2019.
Interest in Epstein's relationships with influential individuals was renewed recently after the publication of over 20,000 pages from his estate.
Some of those mentioned Trump, who has repeatedly denied any wrongdoing. The leader was a acquaintance of Epstein's for years, but claims they parted ways in the 2000s, two years prior to Epstein was first arrested.
